European consumers continue to look for cheaper alternatives as inflation continues. This category is in great demand!

New research from eBay Ads UK has found that inflation-driven British consumers are increasingly shunning expensive vehicle maintenance and are turning instead to DIY car repairs and second-hand parts to fix their cars.

Half (50 percent) of respondents said they would change their car’s windshield wipers themselves, while 37 percent would change things like interior and exterior light bulbs. Meanwhile, more than a third (36 per cent) have changed their own tyres, while one in five (19 per cent) have fitted their own mirrors to their car – including rear-view, rear-view and blindspot mirrors.

More and more consumers are finding and purchasing the tools and equipment necessary to repair their cars at home. Searches for “punctured tire repair kit” in November 2022 were a third (40 percent) higher than the same month last year, while searches for “bumper repair” also increased 30 percent.
