Heavy! Tiktok announced that it will invest 12 billion euros in Europe!

As early as March this year, Tiktok announced the launch of the “Clover Project”, which has been active since 2021 and aims to protect the information of European users. Currently, it has two data centers in Ireland and a third data center in Norway. Recently, TikTok announced that it will invest more than 12 billion euros in Europe in the next 10 years to implement the “Clover Project”, aiming at providing data protection for over 150 million European users.

TikTok spokesman said: “We have promised to store the data of European users locally by default, and we will achieve this goal by establishing three new data centers in Europe.” In addition, TikTok announced in a statement that it had hired an external European security company to conduct an independent audit of the whole process. In November this year, TikTok CEO Zhou was paid to introduce the “Clover Project” to EU officials when he met them.

As announced by TikTok, the data centers in Ireland and Norway that have not yet been opened will be put into use by the end of 2024, when they will all be put into operation to ensure the local storage of European data. Tikitok said, “The clover project strengthens our commitment to the European data governance approach, which puts the protection of user data at the center and conforms to the principle of data sovereignty. We believe that its application will ensure that the 150 million people who visit TikTok every month benefit from industry-leading data protection and security. ”
