Strive to achieve emission reduction targets, and Spanish electric vehicle subsidies will be extended!

According to Spanish media reports, the aid program for purchasing electric vehicles was originally scheduled to end on December 31st. However, at the request of the Ministry of Ecological Transformation and Population Challenge, Spain approved a royal decree to extend it to July 31st, 2024. The budget of the subsidy scheme reaches 1.2 billion euros, and the current allocation is 290 million euros.

At present, consumers need to pay the total price of the vehicle first, and once their subsidy request is approved, they will receive the corresponding amount. For commercial vehicles weighing less than 3,500 kilograms, the maximum amount of assistance can reach 7,000 euros, and for passenger cars, the subsidy budget reaches 4,500 euros. It should be noted that this subsidy is only applicable to vehicles with ecological or zero environmental labels, plug-in hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles or hydrogen-powered vehicles. In addition, this subsidy also applies to motorcycles, and the basic assistance amount is 1,100 euros.

The Spanish Dealers Association positively evaluated this policy. “It will prevent the electric vehicle market from stopping, and in our country, the electric vehicle market is far from reaching the level we need.” At present, the number of cars in Spain is still far from the government’s goal of 5.5 million electric vehicles by 2030. Previously, EU e-commerce also reported that China-made electric vehicles were selling well in Spain, and the electric vehicle market did grow in Spain. I believe that the extension of this subsidy will also help to increase the sales of electric vehicles made in China.
