TikTok’s new AI bot Tako is coming! Or will help the promotion of e-commerce?

TikTok has announced that it is working on an AI chatbot called Tako that aims to help users find more entertaining and interactive content, Reuters reports. According to screenshots and videos shared with Reuters by Israeli app intelligence company Watchful Technologies, a small Tako icon will always appear on TikTok’s interface, allowing users to have a text conversation with it while watching videos to more quickly get what they want. While TikTok hasn’t revealed in which market the chatbot will be tested, sources close to the situation say it will be in the Philippines.

TikTok has filed a trademark application for “TikTok Tako, “which includes computer software used to artificially create human speech and text. Unlike ChatGPT, which is positioned as a multi-purpose chatbot, Tako is more like a navigation assistant, which not only answers questions from users but also recommends relevant videos, an industry source said. When consumers want to learn about or buy something on TikTok, the push mechanism helps sellers promote it.
