According to ecommercedb, the largest ecommerce platform in the UK remains Amazon UK, with net sales of £12,413.9 million in 2021, a 5% increase in net sales year-on-year. In second place was Tesco.com, a local e-commerce platform in the UK, with net sales of £5,563.9 million in 2021, a 6% decline compared to 2020.

In third place was also local e-commerce platform sainsbury.co.uk, which saw net sales increase by 17% between 2020 and 2021 to total sales of £5,491.8 million. Argos.co.uk was ranked fourth with net sales of £3.775 billion in 2021. Local ecommerce platform Next.co.uk had the strongest growth in the top 10, with net sales in the UK rising 28% between 2021 and 2022.

The UK is one of the largest e-commerce markets and is expected to be worth £149.2bn in 2022. Sales are expected to grow at an annual rate of 10.50% (CAGR 2022-2025) and the market is expected to reach $2013.3 billion by 2025. The number of subscribers is expected to reach 58.4 million, and subscriber penetration is expected to reach 84.2% by 2025.
