Investment in 5 years exceeds 1 billion! SHEIN is actively engaged in public welfare activities and continues to empower suppliers!

According to reports, on September 15th, China e-commerce giant SHEIN announced that it planned to invest more than 1 billion yuan (about 155 million US dollars) in the next five years to actively promote its sustainable development strategy, which was named “evoluSHEIN” and one of its core projects was “Equitable Empowerment”. This project aims to support multiple groups in communities around the world, including designers, suppliers, women, young people and vulnerable groups, so as to promote their development.

It is understood that the “evoluSHEIN” strategy mainly revolves around three key pillars, namely people, the earth and processes. This means that SHEIN will fulfill its social responsibilities in different ways. First, it will support global community groups through “equal empowerment”. Secondly, the company will actively cooperate with stakeholders in the ecosystem to ensure the sustainable development of the earth and achieve collective resilience. Finally, SHEIN will continue to lean and innovate the process, practice and reduce waste, so as to realize the future of circular economy.

By the first half of this year, SHEIN has achieved positive results in many aspects, including supporting the construction area of suppliers’ factories of nearly 240,000 square meters, holding more than 240 training activities, and actively promoting some social welfare projects, such as Children’s Home and Juxingguang, to empower the long-term sustainable development of suppliers’ communities and ecosystems. By promoting the comprehensive capabilities of supplier factories in all directions, SHEIN has also helped the garment manufacturing industry to upgrade and internationalize.

In addition, SHEIN also plans to invest 250 million yuan in the next five years to expand or fund new global social influence activities, with special attention to strengthening women’s power, promoting gender equality, supporting the development of young people and helping the poor.

Molly, Chief Operating Officer of SHEIN, said: “SHEIN’s goal is to provide diverse empowerment for different stakeholder groups, including tools, capabilities and funds, and enhance their capabilities to improve and change their lives. The investment of these funds will further support these community groups to grow together with SHEIN and move towards a better future.
