Latest! TikTok Shop will stop Indonesian e-commerce business from today

According to the news of Vietnam News Agency on October 4th, ByteDance’s TikTok will stop the e-commerce transaction of its application in Indonesia from today after Indonesia banned the trading of goods on social platforms last week. The ban aims to protect millions of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Tiktok Indonesia team said in its latest announcement that their first task is to comply with local laws and regulations. Zulkifli Hasan, Indonesia’s trade minister, said that regulators will issue warnings to companies that do not comply with the direct sales ban on social media platforms. If it continues to violate the regulations, its business license in Indonesia will be revoked.

The ban has dealt a huge blow to TikTok. In recent months, the company has also faced strict scrutiny in the United States and other countries, especially on the privacy of user data. According to TikTok’s data, they have 125 million users in Indonesia, making it the second largest market for the application in the world after the United States.
