Lower than 2019! In the third quarter of 2023, the sales of e-commerce in Germany fell seriously!

According to Ecommerce News reported on October 11th, worldwide, the income of e-commerce mainly comes from electronic products, fashion, beauty, health, personal and family care, among which electronic products account for the highest proportion (23%), followed by fashion products (21.1%), and beauty, health, personal and family care ranks third, accounting for 10.4%. Analysts believe that online food shopping will become one of the markets with the greatest growth potential, and the revenue is expected to double between 2023 and 2027, reaching 620 billion US dollars. By 2027, sales in the fields of electronics, fashion, toys, collection and DIY will exceed $1 trillion.

However, there were some different trends in Germany in the third quarter of this year. E-commerce sales shrank by 13.9%, reaching 17.05 billion euros. Online sales in the third quarter were even lower than that in 2019. Specifically, the sales of entertainment products and clothing decreased the most, and the sales of daily necessities also decreased, while the sales of pet food and accessories and toys increased.

Despite the decline in online sales, the data shows that consumers’ satisfaction with online shopping is still high, with one-third of buyers making multiple purchases in the past seven days. This shows that the decline in sales is not due to the limitations of e-commerce, but is affected by the economy.
