Sudden! The European Commission’s countervailing investigation on domestic electric vehicles was filed today.

According to the official bulletin of the European Union released on October 4th, the countervailing investigation initiated by the European Union against imported new pure electric vehicles originating in China was officially put on file. According to the contents of the communique: “The product under investigation this time is a new battery electric vehicle (BEV), which is mainly designed to transport 9 people or less (including drivers) and is powered by only one or more motors. Motorcycles were excluded from this survey. All interested parties wishing to submit relevant product information must do so within ten days from the date of publication of this notice. ”

Spanish media “Pioneer” reported on September 14th that Brussels will investigate China’s aid to electric vehicles. “The global market is flooded with cheaper China cars, and the prices of these cars are artificially low due to huge public subsidies. This is distorting our market. ” Ursula Ursula Von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said in a speech on the state of the European Union at the plenary session of the European Parliament.

According to an analysis report recently released by Schmidt Automotive Research, although the proportion of electric vehicles made in China is very small, its market share is growing rapidly, from 0.1% in 2019 to 2.8% this year. In August 2023, the sales of pure electric vehicles in the European Union doubled, and the number of registered vehicles surged by 118.1% to 165,165, and the market share exceeded 21% for the first time.
