Tencent and Alibaba’s European battlefield: Is this e -commerce platform forced away by Ali?

According to reports, Singapore’s e -commerce platform Shopee recently issued a notice on his website Shopee.es that will stop operation from 23:59 on June 17, 2022, and eight months ago, Singapore e -commerce platform Shopee arrived in Spain. The statement states that before the deadline, it can continue to be purchased normally, and the after -sales service will continue after the deadline.

Shopee is a platform that was born in 2015 and was hatched by Donghai Group. Its biggest investor is Tencent of China Science and Technology Group. The platform has always been considered one of Alibaba’s main competitors. According to SHOPEE’s March 20121 financial report, Shopee has achieved an annual turnover of $ 354 billion, which means that its share in Singapore is 57%, which is over the previous year.

However, the company’s situation is not optimistic. On March 6 this year, Shopee closed in France, explaining that after a short -term preliminary pilot, it was decided not to continue to provide Shopee services in France. This news attracted widespread attention because France had become one of the most important new markets of this Internet giant headquarters in Singapore at that time. In addition, the group has laid off the Latin American markets such as Mexico, Argentina and Chile and other Southeast Asian markets.
