The first stop in Asia! Pinduoduo Temu enters the Japanese market!

After a huge splash in European and American markets, Temu, a cross-border e-commerce platform owned by Pinduoduo, finally ushered in its first stop in Asia.

According to foreign media reports, Temu has been launched in Japan. Temu continued its low-price promotion strategy in Japan, and launched various promotional activities during the opening period: large coupons included over 3,700 minus 600, over 7,500 minus 1,200, and over 15,000 minus 3,000 (yen), with the highest discount of 90% for active products and free shipping service.

In terms of logistics distribution, Temu Japan Station’s logistics partners include Yuantong, Sagawa, Japan Post and other companies. It should be noted that in the initial stage, the site mainly focused on testing the order process and user feedback, so it has not yet been opened for foreign investment.

The launch of Temu Japan Station means that it has moved its expansion to Asia. In less than a year, Temu has been running at full speed, not only setting off a wave of shopping frenzy in European and American markets with its rapid low-price offensive, but also trying to go global with its low-price label while the traffic is soaring.

Temu has entered eight new countries in the past month, including Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Finland, Greece, Slovakia and Japan, among which Japan is the first stop in Asia. Temu was launched in September last year and has now entered 23 countries and regions.

Temu’s overseas territory is expanding day by day, but the future cross-border logistics costs and the pressure from regulators and the public are all difficult problems that Temu needs to face. On June 22nd, a committee of the US House of Representatives issued a report saying that Temu violated the US tariff regulations, and there were problems such as using loopholes in the tax law to evade taxes. Subsequently, the recruitment information on LinkedIn showed that Temu was recruiting compliance officers in the United States and lawyers specializing in trade compliance.
